"a fly line runs through it" - pretty clever huh? ok, clever enough. I'm a fly fisherman and a fly tyer. I thought it would be nice to have a place to talk about that - to share that with those who may be interested. so here it is - the angler's quarter. fishing stories, fly patterns, photos, and links to other sites are among what you'll find here - have fun! alan creech ::: links >>> > orvis ![]() |

Memories >>> These are some photos I took on a very memorable trip to Carlisle, Pennsylvania to fish the famous Letort Spring Run. I had met someone there the year before who happened to be a part of the Letort Regulars - a club of folks who love and have a history with that storied stream. Jack Hunter invited me to come back to their yearly picnic in 1992 at Charlie Fox's house on the Letort. For a young fly fisherman, this was a huge thing - like a golfer being invited to a yearly lunch at St. Andrew's in Scotland with Arnold Palmer et al. So, needless to say, I went. Among the cast of characters were old Charlie Fox himself who helped make the stream famous years ago, Lefty Kreh, still beloved for his knowledge of fly fishing today, and Ed Shenk, who graciously signed my copy of his book Fly Rod Trouting (great book). The photos are from top left, right, then lower left, etc.: Ed Shenk and Lefty Kreh on the banks of the Letort swapping stories; a great view of the Letort from Charlie's back yard; Charlie Fox is the old gentleman on the center of the bench surrounded by his friends; and a great place on the Letort, Bonny Brook, where I caught a beautiful 16" Brown Trout the next day on a #16 Letort Cricket. Good memories.
