"a fly line runs through it" - pretty clever huh? ok, clever enough. I'm a fly fisherman and a fly tyer. I thought it would be nice to have a place to talk about that - to share that with those who may be interested. so here it is - the angler's quarter. fishing stories, fly patterns, photos, and links to other sites are among what you'll find here - have fun! alan creech ::: links >>> > orvis ![]() |

It was hot - too hot to fish. Now it's almost the perfect weather. High of 82, lows at night in the upper 50's! Man! I've got the Trout fishing bug creeping into my soul now. I would love it if this weather lasted till Fall. Probably won't happen, but it would be nice. I'm taking some time off soon since we're not really going anywhere for a vacation this year. Maybe I'll get up to the Gorge and actually do that Chimney Top thing. I'll let you know. By the way, for a while now my Trout rod of choice has been the Orvis One Ounce - a 6'6" 2wt rod with an Orvis CFO 123 reel on it. I've got a Triangle Taper 2/3 weight line on the thing that casts very smoothly. I love that rod - not a wimp AT ALL. I chunk lead with it on a regular basis. Of couse I'm fishing small streams and don't have to cast very far. I've fished the LeTort in PA with it and caught a 16" Brown. I've even, just for fun, Smallmouth fished with the thing and caught, one time, a 13" Smallmouth with that rod - no problem. So don't diss a 2wt. The lighter the better - that's me. ::: posted by > + Alan at 9:56 AM | -------------------------------
