"a fly line runs through it" - pretty clever huh? ok, clever enough. I'm a fly fisherman and a fly tyer. I thought it would be nice to have a place to talk about that - to share that with those who may be interested. so here it is - the angler's quarter. fishing stories, fly patterns, photos, and links to other sites are among what you'll find here - have fun!

OK, I did it. Yesterday I went "fishing" - I didn't say "catching" but fishing. I went in spite of the fact that I knew that several days of rain had probably rendered the streams unfishable. I got to my favorite Smallmouth stream and it was high and running worthy of a kayakers dreams. It wan't totally muddy - sort of that opaque green but running high and too fast. I strung up and fished anyway. I figured you never know - but I knew. Of course, I didn't catch anything but it was fun casting around my bead-head Wooly Bugger for a while. I use a 5-wt to fish Smallmouth in these small streams. I can throw nearly any lead people seem to think requires a 7-wt and have more fun. After I casted till my arm was worn out, I sat on a rock for a while. It was a good time - too short and too fishless but basically good. Next time. They aren't asleep yet.
